Stockbirds
100 – 700 km:
In 1991 for
the first time the famous and well-known Ad Schaerlaeckens, Baarle
-Nassau was contacted and several eggs from the “Rocket" of '87 en "Sun
Dillen" of 1983 were taken to Wissenkerke, which directly resulted in
the 3rd golden crack young pigeons of the Fondclub Zuid-Nederland in
1992 with 92-9231152. Also the 94-9440015 was one of this bloodline and
hardly beatable with tail wind. Also in recent years on a regular basis
eggs are bought from this great master, always eggs from the better
widowhoodcocks or breeding couples. Pigeons from those eggs are most of
the time directly moved to the breeding loft, occassionally they are
raced. Nowadays offspring of all famous pigeons of Ad Schaerlaeckens
like "Goed Sproetje", Wounded Knee", Goodlooking", “Gebroken Poot”, "Sissy"(Vandenabeele),
"Kampioen 707", "Olympiade", "Inteelt Gaby", "Superstar" etcetera are
living in Wissenkerke Also in 1996 a youngster won 1st Golden Crack
Young Pigeons at the Fondclub Zuid-Nederland.
Recently, May 2004,
the number of Vandenabeele-pigeons was increased. Besides the ones
obtained from G. de Nooyer, Arnemuiden, now 10 grandchildren from the
famous “Wittenbuik” were obtained through A. Ruitenberg, Zwolle.
Since 1993 also
pigeons from fellow club member Mevr. Verwei (Wissenkerke) came. Those
were all pigeons originating from the Belgian great master Romain
Legiest, Oostakker from bloodlines "Stier", "Kleine Bleken" etcetera.
Also some pigeons with Koopman-origin were bought from Dick Leeuwerke (6
pigeons in 1996); in the meantime those Koopman-pigeons have already
been sold and the basis is since 1999 made by pigeons from Romain
Legiest and Ad Schaerlaeckens. In 2003 a new bloodline will makes it’s
entry as Vandenabeele pigeons will come from several dutch lofts.
The co-operation
with Mevr. Verwei, Wissenkerke is today so intense that together
reinforcements are bought, breeding couples are kept together,
youngsters are shared andconstantly pigeons are exchanged. Two
competitors have joined together to get more results from a (hopefully)
smaller lot of breeding couples. The basis for these distances is now
Legiest, Schaerlaeckens and Vandenabeele.
This co-operation
is not only limited to the pigeons for short(er) distances but also
expands to the :
Long-distance pigeons
A
start for the long-distances was made with pigeons from Comb. Filius (Wissenkerke)
ho were very succesful in the eighties, but also for this discipline
reinforcements were searched for and as a result in 1995 J. Walpot &
Zn, St.-Philipsland, national winner of Pau and Perpignan and and FBZ-winner
of Bordeaux were contacted. Since 1995 on a yearly basis eggs and young
pigeons from the bloodlines “Supercouple” and both national winners
were obtained. In 2001 followed by 15 young pigeons, all related to
“Eric”, the second price winner on the national race from Barcelona.
The Walpot-pigeons
were for a long period the solid basis for breeding. In the beginning they
were mated amongst eachother, without much result. Later on they were
crossbred with pigeons from other famous lofts and with results !
In
2004, very recently, a new bloodline was introduced, namely the famous
“Klamper”-bloodline from Cor de Heijde, Made. Several grandchildren
from this worldfamous bird were bought to strenghten the loft with
stockbirds. We’ll see what the future brings !
So far
the pigeons from J. Walpot leave their mark most; in nearly all today’s
cracks their blood is represented, the best proof of this is no doubt:
The
Supercouple: 1628275 X 2032894 -WALPOT X MULLER (Muller via FH Janssens/D.van
Bommel)
Those
two pigeons are mated since 1998 (except 1999 and 2000) and so far
offspring raced:

In
2002 as an experiment a yearling hen was trained and raced on
national from Dax, which resulted in the 340th price against over
10.000 p (normally hens aren’t raced). |
THE FUTURE
In the meantime Jan Walpot
quite racing at his home address and joined up with his brother in
Steenbergen. Al, pigeons were sold and so this source dried out. This
was the reason the remainders of the (generally older) Walpot-breeding
pigeons were sold and another tack was tried.
Nowadays the basis for
breeding are the pigeons from Cor de Heijde, made; Since 2004 on a
yearly basis youngsters were collected from the “Klamper”-stock, (grand)children
from for example “Diamantje”, “Perpignan”, “St. Vincentduifje”and “Don
Michel”.
Besides that one of Cor de
Heijde’s breeding cracks, 99-9910029 “Grandson Perpignan” was lent out
by Cor and spent season 2006 in the breeding loft in Wissenkerke.
Hopefully those lines will prove their value on the racing loft as from
2009, when the first pigeons are old enough to race the long distance.
The results with Cor de
Heijde-pigeons on other lofts are incredible, each year a long, long
list of national top-50 results can be presented by the champion from
Made. Even recently the 1st nat. Barcelona in Belgium (Frans Bungeneers)
with a De Heijde-pigeon.
Late summer 2005 long
distance crack Cees van Bijsterveldt, Chaam was contacted to cash some
vouchers bought during winter. The pigeons obtained were trained in
autumn 2007 and will be raced with some reserve in 2008.
This fancier also has a
stock of pigeons which originated partly from Cor de Heijde-pigeons
(through Gebr. Van de Matten, Andel), most of the time crossbred with
the supers of his own old lines like the famous “Dakman”, “Lars”, “Favoriet”,
“Dakman” and “Rolando”.
The results he achieves
show this has been a succesfull method.
Also in 2007 ten eggs were
donated by friend Frans Janssens, Kapelle, one of Zeelands best racers
on the long distances, who’s loft is build up with pigeons from Gebr.
Dingemanse, Arnemuiden, J. Allemekinders and Westrate (both Kapelle),
late H. Vermeulen (Schore), Chr. Musters (Hoogerheide) and strangely
enough from René himself ! (Walpot-hen)
Finally four youngsters
from P.W.A. (Walter) van der Meulen, Sirjansland, joined the ranks in
Wissenkerke. He’s also a real ace on the long distances and even raced
1st national from Dax.
