We drove from the Sossusvlei to Duwisib Castle. We were sick of driving all day. The roads were bad and we were tired. We almost got stuck in the sand when we crossed one of the many dry riverbeds. We were so chagrinned that we didn't look at that stupid castle at all. By all of this our reservation for the campsite was not accepted. The campsite was empty but because of the low temperatures at night (around zero degrees Celsius) we decided to rent a farm for one night.

The first owner of Duwisib castle must be mentally ill to build a castle like that on that place, in the middle of nowhere.

The next day we went south to see the Fish River Canyon.

Everybody knows about the Grand Canyon in America but I bet that nobody have ever heard of the Fish River Canyon in Namibia. According to the books the last one is the seconds largest in the world, but if that is true? There is one big difference: it is really quiet in the Fish River Canyon. When we arrived by the main viewing point there were only 3 cars at the parking place. For the rest no-one. Because of the silence it made a big impression. Literally because it is 500 m deep. You can't see in on the picture; you must go there to see it for yourself. Very impressive. There are more viewing point besides the main viewing point.

The canyon is caused by two separate happenings. First because of a landslide and second because of the river.

South of the canyon they discovered Hot Springs. We have been here too. For the future traveler I say: don't trouble. They made a silly crowded place around it and from the Hot Springs they made a swimmingpool!!. Around that place there a few walking trails. You could see leopards they said. We didn't had time to hike a trail.
