In 1900 the canal to Philippine was openend, and the mussels became more and more important.. .The mussel-industry is still very important though, and always will be the most important thing.
Philippine Today
Philippine is now, together with Westdorpe and Sas van Gent, the communtiy of Sas van Gent It has grown to become a young and green community. People are still building a lot of new houses, think about the Kanaalpark, or Waterdijk for example. The mussel-industry is still very important, as shown on the anual event " de Mosselfeesten"
