Rotorua, a place of thermal wonders.

Waimangu Thermal Valley. An easy walk downhill leads past bubbling crater lakes, hot creeks and algae-covered silica terraces to the shores of Lake Rotomahana. From here a minibus takes you back to the visitor centre.

An other great thermal area is Whakarewarewa. Here you'll find the greatest geyser of New Zealand: Pohutu.  The geyser is unpredictable but sometimes thundering to a height of more than 30 metres (100 feet).

Abel Tasman Park

From Kaiteriteri a cruise takes you along the beautiful coast of Abel Tasman  National Park. The coast is enjoyed by many people who walk the coastal track from Totaranui to Marahau or visit the Tonga Marine Reserve. The full walk takes three or four days, but if you take the one day cruise you can make a three hour walk. The boat picks you up at the end of the walk.
