The weather was much like two weeks ago; a
7 Bft. south-westerly wind. The committee again opted for a course
around existing buoys and send us to the NAM 22 and back to finish.
After a reasonable
start at the pin end we hoisted the fractional spinnaker and the speed
never dropped below 10 knots, topping at 16 knots. Sadly our main
competition, the Mumma Duck (M30) and the Flying Tiger (FT10) had
already left the race course.
When we approached the
NAM 22, in second place behind the Daikin, we made an error and crashed
in a so-called "Chinese gype". Unfortunately the spinnaker got stuck
under the forestay and refused to be dropped. After some encouragement
it did come down, but in several peaces.
Nevertheless we rounded
the mark second and started the long beat back to the finish, against
the tide. We sailed quite a good upwind leg, although it is hard to make
up against 40 and 35 foot boats.

In the end we crossed
the finish line fourth and we were also fourth on handicap.
