Saturday a small depression past the Netherlands during the day, causing
an 8 bft. storm. Although the other mumm30, VanUdenTudelft, went out for
a very quick (and very short) run, we decided to stay in port.
Sunday the start was postponed for an hour due to fog. The mist cleared
and we started the first match in 14 knots of wind. Because the wind was
South East there were almost no waves, although there was still a small
swell from the Saturday storm. We couldn't hold on to the much bigger
40ft boats, but we managed to hold of the bigger Dehler 36’s and the
X-35. Downwind the absence of waves and the medium wind locked our boat
to her hull speed, so with our shorter length we were not able to gain
much downwind. We finished just in front of the X-35 Maas and
VanUdenTuDelft, who is getting a better competitor every IJspegel.

The second race the start order was changed, so we arrived at the upwind
mark together with the slower class who started before us. This resulted
in quite a mess, because most of them misjudged the strong current and
missed the mark. Again we finished in front of VanUden Tudelft, but Maas
was ahead.
In the end we finished 7th overall. The first match we did struggle a
bit with the boat speed, but we have solved most of the problems during
the day. The boat-handling was also a bit under standard, so we know
what to improve the next time.
