On Sunday morning Joost and Ko left with
the boat before the rest, the others arrived on Tuesday evening.
Wednesday till Friday was spent with trainings together with the other
Dutch entrant vanUden TUDelft and some French mumm30's.
Saturday we sailed three upwind downwind
races in moderate to light conditions. The first race we came 13th
a few places in front of the vanUden TUDelft.
The second race we finished in the top
ten, but we were disqualified because of an infringements at the
downwind buoy. Sadly the same happened with our 17th place in
the third race.
Sunday we started with a very shifty light
wind race which we finished 6th because of a great tactic
call by Pierre. To our big surprise the second race of that day was an
offshore. Because of the light wind the positions shuffled several
times. We went from almost last to fourth, and finished 12th
in the end. VanUden TUDelft had a hard race and went from a top ten
placing to almost last. The last race they recovered to a fifth finish
place, we came in 12th.
The last day the weather was very
difficult due to some severe showers. The wind went from zero to twenty
knots in ten minutes. The first race we finished in the middle, but
vanUden TUDelft got some bad shifts and came in last, the last race was
vice versa.
We are quite satisfied with our overall
performance, although we ended 22th overall due to the two
DSQ's. We were able to hold our position in the middle field and score
some top ten placing.
VanUden TUdelft scored a 15th
place overall, but on the water we did sail a draw at 4-4.
