Pat Leask's Grantura - 9684
Last
updated - 11/07/2006
The previous owner purchased this 1964 TVR Grantura MKIII on Sept. 15 2003 from a local owner who had
it garage stored on and off for more than 15 years. The serial number of
the car is #9-684, and the engine number is # 18G-H-24590. The car has been in
the Victoria
area for more than 30 years. It was originally brought over from England
or maybe Germany
in the late 60’s or early 70’s. The license plate in the picture might be
an original from England?
From all the old factory pictures I have seen of this car it all looks original
except for the different bonnet and the shifter knob. I assume that the
bonnet was damaged at one time and was replaced with the non-stock later style
unit instead. It has the stock 1800 MGB engine/trans and alum. TVR
diff. The interior has all the stock gauges including the mechanical.
Tachometer. As far as the frame goes there is absolutely no signs of any damage
whatsoever. The rear cross tube under the fiberglass is soft and requires
replacement, but the frame in general is in very sound condition. When I
start the rebuilding of this I'm going to need a lot of help in sourcing parts
and what parts these cars were made out of. My first problem, is
where to find a rear window!
