Bought by Richard Evans
from Richard Perry.
Please note that I am now
the owner of the above car and bought it from Peter Rowe in June this year, the
car is under full restoration up to FIA spec to be used on UK and European
races and will be completed for the 2010 season.
Info previous owner:
I have a TVR GRANTURA Chassis No 9/665 the engine
No is BP-155-L-11351 and the Reg. is CFV151C.
The car has been in my
family from new, though this is not strictly correct. My father own Zyloid
products which was the company which made the wood rimed steering wheels for
TVR. The car was I think a works car, which was raced but not with that engine.
The rear screen was modified at that time. It was also fitted with a 25-gallon
fuel tank, the rear suspension as wishbones and two sets of springs and damper
on each side. There was some talk that this was either a prototype for the long
distance race cars or one of them.
The car came to my father
as payment for wheels he had supplied and was collected from Blackpool on a
truck along with a set of mag wheels and racing tyres. Only one of these is
left. My father used it as the spare as it was lighter to lift out from behind
the seats. The car was originally a metallic blue, but as been at least three
colours it is currently in grey primer. The car was used by my father as a hill
climb and sprinted the car, then used it as a road car for many years with the
race tuned engine then he replaced the Webber carb with a single Su which
reduced the fuel consumption. On my fathers death I found the car in a very
damp lockup garage from which it had to be winched. I then had the car
transported to Scotland and it is waiting to get the body removed as some of
the tubes have rusted now striped down there is evidence of crash damage both
front and rear on the drivers side, though my father never crashed it as far as
I know. I would be pleased to hear any information about the car wilst it was
owned by TVR.
