The following are details of my TVR. The photo
of my car is taken shortly after restoration in 2001. The car has just completed
its second season of sprints although not competitive at this stage - more mods
on the way. TVR Grantura
MK2 1961 Chassis No. F/187 Ford 1498cc Pre-cross flow engine with a few tweaks plus twin DCOE 40's
and a reasonable cam. UK registration No. 560 UTJ. I bought the car from David Gerald TVR as a
restoration project in 1999. It was just a 'box of bits' and in a very sad
state. The car had been off the road since 1986 and in that time it had been
sold twice, and on both occasions the owners had botched repairs and attempted
to restore the car. I am pleased to say that all the restoration work,
including the paintwork was carried out by my self. Having said that a lot of
the structural work around the bottom door pillars had been done professionally
prior to 1986. The car when purchased was fairly complete apart from engine,
gearbox, floor, seats, therefore a lot of guesswork was needed. I am happy with
the final outcome, but there is always something to improve. I am looking for
more speed at the moment. I am not into concours or museum pieces; as far as I
am concerned cars are meant to be used as they were originally intended.
