MK2 Grantura, 3340 CD, 7/c/231. I bought the
car in pieces 20 years ago from a Lotus Elite owner (I guess he has the
Climax motor!). The car is now fully restored (chassis off etc.), completed in
June 2007, and has apparently covered 12000 miles from new. It was first
registered in September 1960 in Brighton (UK) at St. James Motors (a TVR
dealership at the time). It is now fitted with a Stage 2 1500cc B series
engine, and the front brakes have been uprated to MK2a specification (the front
ALFINS were missing, although the rear ALFINS remain). Otherwise, the car is
very much as standard Climax specification (including steering
box, leather interior and 8000RPM rev. counter). I have no other
history of the car (any information greatly appreciated). It is
absolutely delightful to drive and dispels many of the second hand myths so favored
by journalists.
