It is a Mk IIB chassis no. 7/B/510,
engine no. 12H421 RS 20650 (MGA 1622cc). It was originally registered on 27th April
1962. The last Owner has the car since 1975 and it underwent a complete
restoration in 1992 including the fitting of a new chassis. The original colour
was yellow but the car was already green when Mr.Osborne bought it. He
contacted Stan Kilcoyne at the factory in 1976 to ask if a MK IIB was the
correct model number. He replied that the car was a MK IIB but there were very
few differences between the IIB and the IIA. So the Mk IIB does exist! It is
confirmed with a original Letter! I would be interested to know if there are
any more IIBs in existance and what the differences are (bodywork perhaps?).
The car is showed as well in Peter Filby book.
I bought the car
30.07.2012 and drove it from north Scotland through England to Dover and from
Calais to Germany in one day. 953 MILES just some stops for the fill up the car
with petrol.
Thank you to the
last Owner Michael Osborne who took so much care about the last 37 years. The
car was showed at the classic days Schloss dyck at the past weekend. The car is
perfect
Documented with tons
of paperwork.
Update 25-11-2013:
The first owner of the car has the
car registered in color yellow. I had the car restored in the last Winter
nearly completely. During the paintwork we had discovered that the car was
never yellow painted. The car was registered with the gelcoat what looks like
yellow. So the first real color is green and it is still green, how it should be.
