Göran Hackman’s Grantura – 18/101

Last updated - 13/03/2007

I have a TVR Grantura Mk IV 1800S in my possession. I bought the vehicle in October 2006. Here are some facts.

Year of build: 1967

Type: Mk IV 1800S

Production number: 18/101

Country: Sweden

The story of the car (as far as I know):

The Grantura was bought in the UK in 1986 and brought to Sweden. As the chassis turned out to be badly corroded and the engine was completely worn out the car was dismantled to pieces the same year. The owner truned out not have the time to restore it so in 1991 it was sold to a new owner. The chassis was restored with new tubing and also all damages to the body were repaired. The badly worn interior was also replaced. In 1995 the body and chassis were united again. The car was bright red when imported to Sweden but after the restoration it is now burgundy red. The wire wheels were replaced with Minilite alloys. A Ford 289 V8 and T10 gearbox was installed in 1995 but unfortunately this combination turned out not to be road legal in Sweden and the car was never (officially) in use with teh Ford engine. Instead a Volvo B18 engine (normally fitted to Volvo 122, P1800 and Marcos 1800 GT) and Volvo M40 gearbox was installed. In 2005 the car was finally road legal. It has now 1600 km on the clock since the restauration. The car is now equipped with a rebuilt 2 litre Volvo B18 engine producing about 170 hp.
