Radiohead + Willy Mason
Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam, 9 mei 2006

What a great way to celebrate your 20th birthday: seeing Radiohead!

We arrived at the venue pretty late, got drinking coins (stupid machine!), went to the toilets and the cloak-room and then saw 2 minutes of Willy Mason. It was only 20:15 when he finished! Crap. He did look very different than how I imagined him. I've seen pictures where he looks young and has short hair but now he looked old and with longer hair.. kinda strange.

Well anyway we tried to find good spots, in which we succeeded not too well. Radiohead started after a not-too-long while with a big intro and Everything In It's Right Place. I couldn't see the stage very well but it was okay. Then they played The National Anthem and a new song of which I made videos. My filming skills aren't really ace, but the sound is quite good. For the rest of the show they played a variety of classics such as Karma Police, stuff of the newer albums and new songs. I liked the new songs very well!

In general, I just really loved the show. I've seen them before, 5 years ago (gosh it makes me feel old to be able to say that), but that was at a festival and totally different. There There is really great live, with the drums and all, and during You And Whose Army they made a mistake and Thom just cracked up about his funny faces in the cameras. I would have loved to hear True Love Waits, but they didn't play it :(
It does feel kind of odd and frustrating for the other people that the second gig on May 10th was cancelled, but I'm glad we went on my birthday.
