Metropolis Festival
Zuiderpark, Rotterdam, 2 juli 2006

Anneke and I met up at Rotterdam central station, from there we took the subway to the Zuidplein.. The first band we saw was The Spinto Band.

They were truly adorable! Six guys barely my age, rocking out and making the most crazy moves, lovely songs, just really fun.

After that we saw two songs of The Revs, but they were a bit boring so we left and went to the other tent to see Why?

Also really nice, something totally different for a change. Too bad they didn't play Sanddollars, but it was good. (The guy with the curly hair and the red shirt was the keyboard player of The Spinto Band by the way, he and their bassplayer were also watching and they were quite amused).

Back to the other tent again, where Shitdisco was performing. I really liked them, I didn't really know what to expect. I heard a couple of songs, but I just didn't know. The programme flyer described them as punkfunk and they just really fitted that label very well. Really happy and danceable, and two bassguitars!

The Gossip, wow! Many bands try to be subversive and all, but they really hit a soft spot, because I think fat people are still a bit of a ... (can't think of the word, something shocking). But she just stood there in a shiny bathing suit and kicked everybody's ass! Really really cool. They also played a cover of Aaliyah's 'Are You That Somebody'.

After that, we got some dinner and saw the Shout Out Louds at the main stage.

Nice band, nice songs, but it got a bit boring after a while. I loved them for playing 100°, because it was very appropriate for that day :P

The grand finale was the Bromheads Jacket show.

They totally rocked out, they played really short, just 30 minutes or something and most of the time Tim was talking anyway. But it was a great gig, they also played their version of When You Wasn't Famous, which I had forgotten about, that was a nice reminder.

After that we went back to the station again, I went back to Tilburg and for one time, I had to travel shorter than Anneke. I almost forgot to buy a ticket, erm well.
