Jamie T
Desmet studios, Amsterdam, 27 february 2007

First gig of the year and Anneke and I saw Jamie T again! It was showcase organized by 3voor12, you could register for the guestlist online and so we did.

The show was sooooo good! He played for over an hour, Anneke has a few pictures but they're all crappy because of the lightning, ahem.

He opened with Brand New Bass Guitar and talked a lot with the (very quiet) audience, apologizing for the last time he was here (London Calling) because he and his band had spent too much time in the coffee shops or something.. and this time really was better. He played most of the songs of his album and Northern Line, ended with Sheila, when Anneke and I were the only ones yelling "LONDON!!!" and he shook my hand from the stage :D

After Sheila they left for a while but then Jamie came back and did A New England by himself, which was amazing and then the other guys also came back and they played another version of Calm Down Dearest.. Jamie said it was so fast that he'd offer a cigarette to anyone who could smoke one and finish it before the song was finished and of course there was a guy who already finished one after the first chorus. Later on also a couple of girls who were all of a sudden in front of the stage and dancing like hookers smoked some and Jamie asked for "an applause for the girls with cancer".

Louis (the guitarist) also offered his beer and water to us, Anneke took his water and I made her leave the bottle behind but I also got her a setlist :P Bla this probably doesn't sound interesting if you weren't there. And we got posters! Reeeally lovely posters of the album cover, but without Jamie sitting in his room (so basically just the room). They were hanging everywhere so we ripped some of the walls but afterward there was just a big pile of them on a table.

Some pictures after all:

I told you they were crappy :P
