Franz Ferdinand + Bent Moustache
Tivoli, Utrecht, 28 juni 2006

The support act was some weird band called Bad Moustache (at least, that's what we thoug, but I just read they're called Bent Moustache somewhere).. they were kinda sucky. The singer looked like a crossover between Liam Gallagher, John Lennon and Damon Albarn and that was also a bit how they sounded. Like a mixture of too many flavours. They also had a saxophone player during a couple of songs, which sounded quite terrible but the sound was pretty bad on itself. There are always these kind of music snobs complaining about the sound, I usually never notice it but this time it really was horrible.

Franz Ferdinand started about 45 minutes later, first song was 'Come On Home', which wasn't a very good opener. It was really good to see them again after such a long while (almost two years ago) and their performance has become so much better. I also never heard the songs of the new album live before, so that was also nice.

The only thing that really bothered me (besides the bad sound) was the crowd. We were standing at the right side of the stage and everybody was just.. standing there! I was like: "Come on, it's Franz!" So I went into the middle of the audience, but that was the other opposite, I was soaking in sweat in only a few minutes. I liked that better though!

Only after a few songs I noticed that there was a 'mystery drummer'. We were like: OMG where's Paul? Haha. But he showed up later. He also did some singing at the end, pretty terrible but pretty funny too :P

There we also a few people complaining about my camera.. come on! I was filming a little bit of Eleanor Put Your Boots On (watch it here if you like), then this girl said to me that my camera was blocking her view or something. Okay I quit, but five minutes later she was standing somewhere else anyway! And at the end I was just taking a few pictures and another girl said "Can't you just look at it normally?".. what's her problem? Really, there are loads and loads of people taking pictures, if you don't want to keep something as a souvernir then fine, but leave me alone.
