Babyshambles + The 925s
Effenaar, Eindhoven, February 19th, 2008

Babyshambles gig at the Effenaar. It was rather... strange. The doors opened at 19:30 and we arrived at 19:50, or something, it was probably 8-ish when we were actually in the main hall. I had never been there (only the small one a couple of times), so I looked around a bit to find Pete playing the drums and jamming with Mick on stage. Basically they didn't really play any songs, just parts of them, quite laid back. Apparently a guy was quite annoying, he yelled at Pete, they had an argument and Pete spat on him! Eventually Drew and Adam joined them and they played three songs: La Belle Et Le Bęte, French Dog Blues and Stone Me (What a Life).

Then the support act, The 925s, got to do their show. They played at the Mezz Café in December and I had to rewrite their biography and was involved in the promotion, so basically I know everything about this band! Not that their music was rather shitty, though. Fortunately they didn't play too long and we found a better spot to stand, next to the bar.

Finally Babyshambles returned, they opened with Sedative, and played for about half an hour (including a ska-version of I Get Along and What Katie did). During UnBiloTitled (I think) Pete got mad because people were talking all the time (hello, meet the Dutch crowds), saying we were Dutch cunts and then he walked away. It took about 5 to 10 minutes for the band to return, then they played Fuck Forever and that was that. So, I have some mixed feelings but I'm not the kind of person to over-analyze and discuss everything like the people commenting on the venue blog, which is also typically Dutch, I guess. But anyway, I didn't have an unpleasant evening. Could've been better, could've been worse.

And, as a part of my 15 minutes of fame, my video can be seen at the website of het Brabants Dagblad. Oh dear.
