As South you hold the above hand.
The bidding is as follows:
West | North | East | South |
1 | 2 | Pass | ??? |
Problem: What should South bid?
For solution go to the bottom of the page
Solution:
Obviously South has a bidding problem. 2 NT is not an ideal bid with the void in hearts. It is quite possible that N/S will bid too high. At the table South passed, bearing in mind that West might bid 2. However West passed as well. The contract of 2 was made for a very good score indeed! Other contracts such as 2 NT all went down. Conclusion: The old maxim "pass as soon as possible when there is a threatening misfit" appeared to be more than right. The North/South hands were as follows:
West /none
