I'm the 4th owner of Grantura
Mk11a vehicle register 15HFK & I live in South Derbyshire,England.
I've managed to speak to all previous owners ~
1st owner purchased from TVR (Layton) via dealership in Birmingham,west
midlands in Feb 1961. The car was purchased as a kit with Chassis number
7F172 with a Ford 997cc Engine. The Colour was a
deep burgundy red colour. He was an engineer so did a
lot of engine modification & upgraded to a 1300cc Ford engine with a Cosworth head & twin 40DCOE Weber carbs.
Unfortunately he had an accident & bent the chassis so he had car rebuilt
at the TVR factory with a new chassis allocation of 7F203.
The 2nd owner purchased the car in April 1970. The car had colour
changes to Burnt Orange,Purple & then British
racing green. The engine was changed to a 1500cc Ford engine with a HRG Derrington head & kept the Twin 40DCOE carbs.
The 3rd owner was the son of the 2nd owner hence 3 previous owners but the car
was garaged for circa 15 years.
I purchased the car in March 2000 in driveable
condition but started to rebuild front suspension & brakes. House move
prevented this being completed & has stood minus front suspension ever
since. I intend to start work again soon & return to original colour & as a road going car but I wish to retain some
of the original character of the car so I won’t be doing a 'nut & bolt'
restoration. Car is pretty original accept for colour
& obviously the engine upgrades.
