Theosophy
Theosophy is humility, obedience,
submissive receptivity and altruism. Why such an attitude? Because we
mortals can then be receptive for divine wisdom. The name theosophy is
derived from the Greek language, theos divine and sophia wisdom. It teaches
that the Universe is made up of spirit and matter; both evolve in a constant
cyclic flow. Everything is made up of spirit and matter; both are the
vehicles of the divine centre of consciousness called the monad. From
the largest Star to the smallest atom everything in Nature has a Monadic
centre of consciousness. The Universe is ensouled Consciousness.
Looking for the truth can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack
and then again when we know how to look it is so easy to find, it stares
back at us in the mirror. The numerous World Religions make the search
for truth difficult, just like looking for that needle in the haystack.
Gautama the Buddha is a perfect example of how we should approach looking
for the truth. Looking within, the outward body is the mirror of the inner
being. When we are humbled by the Divinity in us, show obedience and allow
it to lead us, then we are following the ancient wisdom tradition. What
we find in the New Testament, the kingdom of God is within us, is taken
from this tradition. We then learn to become altruistic to our fellow
beings, because the kingdom of God is within them too.
All of the world religions are based on the ancient wisdom tradition.
Theosophy is the ancient wisdom tradition, it is no new candidate for
the world’s attention. There is no personal God outside of us, who
keeps an eye on humanity rewarding or punishing it after death. Theosophy
is also Science, Philosophy and Religion, giving us a broad enough base
in our search for truth about our past, present and future. It studies
all World religions but teaches none of them, it is up to us, our own
free will to accept or reject its teachings. There are no dogmas to follow
because truth seeking can never be sectarian.
It comes down to us in its present form through the
keepers of the tradition and their messenger, H.P.Blavatsky. The modern
theosophical Society was first formed in 1875 by the pioneers, H.P.Blavatsky,
H.S.Olcott, W.Q.Judge
and others.
