THE
MUSICIANS
Mandolinplayer
Marina Eckhardt (1960) graduated in
2003 in the study of teaching musician, and in 2006 she got the Masterdegree (performing musician) at the Conversatory of Tilburg
(Holland). She took lessons from Benny Ludemann and Ad van Sleuwen and followed
masterclasses from Keith Harris, Gertrud Weyhofen, Detlef Tewes en
Caterina Lichtenberg. She plays in the Giuliani trio, and performs with
pianoplayer Ad van Sleuwen. With him she recorded a cd with original
compositions for mandolin and piano from Vienna around 1800. She teaches
mandolin and guitar and is conductor of a mandolin and guitar orchestra
in her hometown.

Monty van Belzen
(1959) developed himself as allround
musician.
Besides the fact that he is the musical partner of Marina Eckhardt, he
plays with several choirs. With these choirs he recorded several cd’s
and made concerttrips to the United States, Russia and Australia. Among
the highlights in his carreer are the collaboration with Gregor Bak and
his choir of
Ural Cossacks and performances with the
Dutch “Zeeuws Symphonic Orchestra”.

Follie à deux was founded
in december 2003 and plays music of Astor Piazzolla, Malando (a Dutch
composer of tangos) but also Russian and Southern European traditional
music as well as arrangements of musical and movie themes.
The name `Follie a
deux´ has been derived from the duo that mandolinplayer Marina Eckhardt
formed with guitarist Leo van Rutte in the 90s of the last century. This
duo was called 'The Follia Duo' and the new duo - with a different
musical partner - was to become a continuation; in other words, Follia
two. With a wink to the French language (the right spelling would be
'Folie') that is indeed was it has become...
