Ostpreussen

Ostpreussen

"Ostpreussen" was built by Frd. Krupp @ Kiel, Germany in 1921.
Owner: Hugo Stinnes-Rübeck Montan & Oelwerke A.G. @ Hamburg.
The "Ostpreussen" was a tanker made out of two submarines, the "U 183 and the U 184". These submarines were ordered by the German navy in WW I but were never finished. The engines were from the "U 129", a submarine that was not builded completely. 
"Ostpreussen" was sold to Italy in 1927 en renamed "Caucaso".
"Ostpreussen" is destroyed in WW II @ Tunis. 
Sistership is the "Oberschlesien", based on the "U 187" and the "U 188". "U 130" delivered the engines. She was sold to Italy in 1927 and renamed "Nautilus". 
"Oberschlesien" was destroyed 13-10-1942 in the Mediterranean Sea, 4 miles SSW of Cape Figari by a British submarine (torpedo).
