Fantasy-dolls

(Click on the picture to zoom-in)

One of our hobby's is creating fantasy-dolls. They are made of 'FIMO' , which is a sort of synthetic clay. The clothes are self-designed and self-made.

But we will let the creator speak for herself:

slapende baby First of all I make fantasy-dolls out ot 'FIMO'. Formerly I made them out of self-hardening clay, but I wasn't satisfied about the results.
One day I found out that there was a synthetic clay, called FIMO and I tried it out. I thought it was an ideal material to work with, very smooth and very good to handle. Since that time I always use this clay. It also has the right skin-color.

In the beginning, when you're just started to make dolls, you are happy with every doll you made. At last, they all are your 'babies'.
But the longer you will experiment, the better they will be.

That's how the dolls became fantasy-dolls: the way I create them nowadays. Little objects with all kinds of decorations, like mushrooms, fruitshells, moss and things you also use in Christmas-decorations.

Around Easter you can also find cute things to use. Like you can see on this picture of a doll with silk flowers around it. You can buy these flowers everewhere you want. This is one of my 'flower-power children'.

Sometimes I create a doll, because something happened in daily-life, like these 2 dolls eating an egg of a pigeon. This pigeon-egg I found on the balkony at my parents, who are living in an appartment-building on the 12th-floor !! The egg is very little, but in the hands of a 13cm doll it seems to be an enormous egg and his friend is going to eat it, with his fork and spoon. He's ready for it.
To complete the object I used some feathers and a shell of the quail to cover the head, like some kind of hat.

I also make little dolls, sleeping in a goose-egg.
I don't have them on a picture at this moment, because I mostly
make them as a present, especially to give it to the nurse
who delivered the baby. As soon as I have one again, I will put it on
this page.
